Daman
and Diu.
Daman and Diu is a
union territory in India. For over 450 years these coastal
enclaves on the Arabian Sea coast were part of Portuguese
India, along with Goa and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The
Republic of India occupied Goa, Daman, and Diu on December
19, 1961; Portugal did not recognize Indian rule in
these territories until 1974.
Daman is situated on the west coast
of India on the Arabian Sea are exotic locations that
are blessed with sun, sand & sea. Due to their Locational
advantages, they offer excellent potential for tourist
traffic. Daman is situated at 20-22'-00" to 20-27'-25"
latitude north of equator and between meridian 72-49'-42"
to 72-54'-43" longitude. An important location

Diu is an island lying off the south
coast of Gujarat's Kathiawar peninsula, separated from
the mainland by a tidal creek. It has an area of 40
km², and a population of 44,110 (2001 census).
The town of Diu lies at the eastern end of the island,
and is famous for its fortress and old Portuguese Cathedral.
It is also a fishing town.. It is considered one of
the most beautiful tourist locations in India. Famous
destinations include the nearby Nagoa beach, one of
the finest beaches in the country. The old fort, the
